JUXTAPOSITION - The extra emphasis given to a comparison when the contrasted objects are close together.
Cats in Juxtaposition is a personal illustration and writing project spanning the length of 2016. I am developing a set of illustrations of the cat breeds of the world, intended to accompany a set of short stories that I am writing. Each cat is paired with an object or creature, creating a space for a story in between. The stories and illustrations range from the sweet and delightful, to the dark and disturbing. Their nature depends entirely on the cat in question and the tension that develops when the juxtaposition is created.
This project is both a labour of love, and an experiment in the dedication required to produce a large volume of work in a relatively short space of time.

To support the production of this book, limited edition prints will be made available as cats are produced. The originals will be exhibited as a complete group at the end of the year. You are welcome to contact me regarding ordering either an original or a print.
